Tiago, 13 , Amsterdam

Tiago came to SOL Coding with some coding experience, but struggled to turn what he knew into complete games of his own.

Throughout his learning journey, he developed the skills and confidence to start building independently and discovered a real passion for game development. Now, at just 13 years old, he is taking coding courses typically studied at bachelor's degree level - standing out in classes surrounded by adult students.

He has also taken his skills beyond the classroom and is now working with a games company through our industry connections to code and develop a real game.

L. , 10, Tokyo

L.’s parents had always had high ambitions for her and wanted to help her find something she was truly passionate about.

They tried violin, tennis, piano, robotics and even one of Tokyo’s leading coding clubs - but nothing seemed to stick.

That changed after her first trial class with SOL Coding. She couldn’t stop smiling the entire time as her ideas were now turning into creations, and her parents knew they had finally found something she genuinely loved.

Since then, she has learned to code and create her own games. Most notably, she built a detailed game for her birthday that all of her friends could join and play together - giving her the chance to proudly show what she had created.

Olly, 20, London

Olly was one of our first long-term students, joining SOL Coding in 2022 while looking to start a career in the games industry. Within just a few months, he had developed his skills enough to take that next step. With support from our team and industry connections, we helped him secure an opportunity with a games company - where he has continued working ever since.

By 2025, Olly had proven just how far his skills had come. We got back in touch and invited him to take on a completely new role with SOL Coding by joining our Tutoring team. From learning to code with us, to working professionally in the games industry, to now teaching our own students - his journey has come full circle.

Alex, 12, Moscow

Alex came to SOL Coding with plenty of talent and had already been trying to create his own games. He had worked with previous tutors and built projects with their help, but there were still important gaps in his understanding - without direct guidance, he struggled to code independently.

We focused on filling those gaps rather than simply helping him finish his projects.

In just two months, Alex has made huge improvements to his existing games and, most importantly, is now capable of coding completely on his own.

Seeing that progress first-hand, his parents have become incredibly supportive of his development and continue to encourage his journey with SOL Coding.

Orion, 17, New York

When Orion’s parents first came to SOL Coding looking for coding classes, they explained that he had often struggled in traditional learning environments and wanted to find somewhere he could learn in a way that worked for him.

During his time with SOL, he absolutely shone. Given the freedom to learn through something he genuinely enjoyed, his confidence and abilities continued to grow.

After graduating from high school, Orion earned a place at Durham University - one of the UK’s leading universities.

When preparing for this next chapter, he specifically asked us to provide a statement supporting his application, reflecting just how significant his time with us had become in his wider education.
